But Jordan was the go to guy, much like Shaq was the go to guy for the Lakers and Pippen and Kobe were the complimentary superstars

Then why couldn't Jordan ever win without Pippen? Shaq couldn't win without Kobe/D-Wade.

But Jordan never won one without Pippen, or Shaq without Kobe or Wade. Nobody wins one on their own.

in Kobe's first 3 years, he was a backup to Eddie Jones and Nick Van Exel...in LeBron's second season he became the youngest player ever to get a triple-double, score 50 pts in a game and be named to the All-NBA team

Kobe needed a Hall of Fame coach and a Hall of Fame Center to win his titles...something LeBron isn't even close to having the luxury of

Kobe is good, realllllly dang good...but to say LeBron won't be great, or isn't great right now, is laughable and ends any serious discussion of basketball...and im surprised it has gone this far

Re: See ya next year LaBron

I understand what you are saying, but theres two big differences between Lebron and Kobe when they came out of high school. Kobe was the much more polished overall player. Lebron is a freak of nature for his size/build. Kobe was a twig and it took longer for his body to be NBA. Lebron's body was already there. Lebrons a fabulous player, but he's mainly a one dimensional north/south player to coin a football term. If a defender forces him side to side, or cuts off the lane and makes him take jumpers, he's not that good. Kobe was a great shooter from day 1. He just didn't have the body to take the punishment 82 games puts on someone playing 50 minutes a game to begin with. At 19, Kobe was 10 times the shooter Lebron is/was. Ball handling skills were the same. Defensively, Kobe has been better. The body is what made the most difference there.

yeah you are right lebron will never be in the same league as kobe unless he gets the hell out of cleveland....cause as long as he is there he will never have a good coach and he will never have anybody to back him up cause every superstar needs a complimentary superstar and so far lebron has nobody

The problem is if he goes somewhere, it will probably be to New York. That is what Nike and the NBA would love to happen. That won't help him much either for quite some time.
